Update on the practices’ future from Beggarwood and Rooksdown practices and North Hampshire CCG

3rd January 2019


Discussions between the practices and North Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) about the future options are going well and we are pleased to let you know that a local practice has expressed a firm interest in taking over the contract to provide these services. The potential practice and current contract holder are currently discussing the details of this arrangement, supported by the CCG and aim to conclude these in the next few weeks.


We know that many of the patients value the practice staff and can confirm that they will be able to transfer to the new provider. All of the staff are being supported through the process to do this.


A number of staff clinical and non-clinical have decided that they would prefer not to be part of the future plans and have resigned. During this interim period, the current contract holder – Cedar Medical Limited – has assured the CCG that the appropriate level of clinical staffing will be in place to ensure that safe and high quality care is provided for patients. The CCG will maintain regular contact and review of the patient services provided on both the Rooksdown and Beggarwood sites.


The CCG will also be attending the Rooksdown and Beggarwood Patient Participation Group (PPG) in January to address concerns and questions that patients may have about the future.


We will make sure you are kept up-to-date but if you have any concerns at all please do speak to a member of the practice team.




GP and Practice Nurse Appointments - Update 3 January 2019

The Rooksdown and Beggarwood Practice offer all our patients GP and Practice nurse appointments at both locations.  As of the 14 January 2019 all requests for GP appointments will be allocated a GP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) telephone call.  The GP or ANP will then be able to assess the individual and bring them in later in the day to be seen.  This is different from the appointment system that was in operation in the summer of 2018, this will improve patient contacts with the GP and ANP's

We are pleased to announce that we will be offering you and your family even better access to GP appointments. As well as the pre-bookable appointments now available Monday to Saturday, from October 2018, pre-bookable appointments will be available with a healthcare professional on Sunday mornings from 9:00am – 1:00pm and on bank holidays.


These appointments will be held at the North Hampshire Urgent Care premises on the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital site.


These appointments are pre-bookable only, through the practice. To book you can either speak to a member of our reception team by popping into the practice, or calling on 01256 399710 or 01256 396500 during normal practice hours: 08.30 - 18.00.

This surgery website is used to present all our patients with up to date news and information about our practice. We will keep it current with any developments or other details that we feel are relevant to you.  The latest patient update is available here, The back issues of the patient info sheet can be found by clicking on the have your say tab at the top of the page, selecting patient participation group, then clicking on the patient info sheet tab.  This lists the past patient information sheets and has link so that you can view these sheets. 

As well as a source of information about our practice, the staff and the services we provide, we hope you will use this website as a useful resource for other health-related information. Team Update

Dr Larry Stone, Medical Director, Rooksdown and Beggarwood Practice. Dr Stone will be based at Beggarwood on a Monday and Wednesday and Friday.

Statement of intent for detailed access to records online

Plan to Meet GMS 2015-16 Contractual Requirement for Patient Online Services

This practice plans to offer the facility for patients to view online, export or print detailed coded information held in their own records from Monday 1st April 2016. The Practice has a strict policy in place for the granting of such access requests.

This date is subject to the necessary NHS GP systems and software being available to the practice.

This practice currently offers the facility for patients:
• to book, view, amend, cancel and print appointments online
• to order online, view and print a list of their repeat prescriptions for drugs, medicines or appliances
• to view online, export or print summary information from their record, relating to medications, allergies, adverse reactions and any other items agreed between the practice and individual patient

We publicise and promote our online services to our practice’s patients through the practice website, practice waiting room.

If you wish to express your interest in this service, you will need to contact the surgery on 01256 396500. The surgery will then provide you with a form detailing your "Registration details". You will need to collect this form from the Reception desk at the surgery (this cannot be posted to you). We will also require to see photo ID and proof of address, for example a utility bill or similar at the time of collection.
